There are several companies that make books for others, allowing them to put their names on them. This is similar to writing a term paper for a college student to deliver to the teacher, the student did not write it and present it as your own to a degree. Maybe you can see the problem here, and when we decry cheating academia, it appears in the eBook business this is an acceptable practice?
Well, actually it has not gone without notice. The SEC is now for various licensed professionals in the securities industry that use these eBook on financial issues such as sales tools. When a financial planner or sales person of a financial product put your name on an eBook and uses it to help establish them as a specialist with a client, they are misrepresenting move from work not done.
The new buzz word on the Internet is "informational" products and eBook writing teams often use the buzz-word to sell their goods, but they are doing is the same as helping students cheat on tests. You see, I do not believe a business model of lies to consumers is an incredible, and is a disgusting in my opinion. In fact, I think this crosses the line of ethics and just can not muster the strength to get regulatory agencies.
In the U.S. is not good for writers to sell eBook eBook on the following topics, in my legal opinion:
- Medical Patient - because the U.S. you have to be licensed to practice medicine.
- Personal Finance and Taxes - Because tax auditors, financial planners, brokers are licensed, for those who return to those breaking the laws and the SEC can, but should not do it.
- Senior and Elder Care - professions, since they also are licensed in the U.S..
Just because you can make money at something does not mean it is ethical or you should. Traffickers are involved in a highly profitable business as well, a good cow cow "business model, but that does not mean that all is well. See that point?
As a writer, I was invited to write books on "Reverse Mortgages "and" Financial Planning Topics "and could very well do so, these books were rescheduled by the company to pay me to write it, with a commission on each one sold. But I will not do it because I was allowing people in the financial sector to break the law.
Although I, the writer and author of the eBook would not be breaking the law by writing the book, I would be a facilitator for someone who allowed others to rebrand them pretending to have them, and deliver them to consumers making it look like the experts, when they write these books themselves.
So now when you mention that other people write books that are giants "advertorials" They crossing also unethical, because there is Buzz-Marketing Laws and the consumer needs to know in advance what's going on, otherwise this tactics cheating are dishonest. You see that point?
Those who write books for others to put their names are breaking a code ethical conduct. Moreover, those who write "super long sales letters and pass them as books are violating the trust of the reader. Please, think about it.
