How to protect your download directory and download links
In the digital age more and more people have taken for the sale of digital products such as software, photos, music files and electronic books on the Internet. Many of these people sell these products on their own site Web, once a customer has purchased the product they will receive a download link so they can download their purchase.
What that many of these sellers do not realize is that many potential customers are free to download the product, or through unencrypted download links or insecurity download directory. If you sell digital products, then I strongly suggest you read this article and make sure your site is secure!
The first lesson I'll show you is how to protect your folders Download. Download Directories are where you store your files that the client will download after purchase, so if you sell e-books your storage place may look like:
If someone to type this URL into their Web browser chances are they would see "Tree View" of your folder structure. In short, they have access all files in that folder without having to pay a single penny!
To stop this, you can create a page named "index.html" and transfer to the "e-books" folder. This means that now when someone tries to access the folder, they wont to see the contents of your directory, they will see the index page you just downloaded.
So now you protected storage Your Files What else can you do a directory? Well there are still many more tasks that you can take to protect your files.
Compress your files has become more important than ever and should be used with all your files. Google and other search engines now explore files PDF, Word documents and none other HTML files, these are not safe! Many e-publishers store their downloads as PDF documents.
Although this may not be a problem for those adding content to their sites in the form of PDF newsletters and reports, it also means that you should never store product you want to sell as a PDF (unless it is in a folder protected by password).
It gets worse. Google does not read only PDF files but converts them to HTML format so that your e-book can not only be downloaded, but they can get the source as well!
But human nature being what it is, chances are that person will now customize your e-book with their own links, compile them and sell or the yield.
A simple way to keep your files out of the reach of spiders is to upload as a zip file. Search engines can not look inside zip files (yet) and list their contents. Using zip files, you can add more security by making and secure e-mail password separately.
Another way to protect your directories is to protect with a password. Many web hosting companies offers you the opportunity to protect password directory. Use Protection password may limit the amount of users accessing your site. You can specify a username and password for the directory protect you. Each protected directory can have multiple users (each with different passwords if you prefer) who have access to it. In addition, the option to protect directories can be used to remove access to a user from a directory protected.
Even with all these security procedures in place, there is still no guarantee that your files will not stolen. No matter how you're sure there are always people out there trying to find "back doors" to your links. The only way 100% secure to protect your files is to store them in a folder above your html docs public or www directory and then have a script to send an encrypted, expiring download link to your customer immediately after payment. This is the method I use with great success.
someone is invading my e-mail accounts and address book, what can I do, and will the police do anything?
Currently, I only use computers school and the library so I do not think I can notice any protection software
You will have to change their passwords or simply do new accounts. Sorry. The police will not get involved because it is a serious crime as a homicide, but you can report this to the team hackage Facebook, sending an e-mail. They will be sure to get a new password.
