Book covers are only part of the book design process ... Here's a list of what is needed for the back cover. Ask yourself playing the role The back cover copy to play in the sale of my book? They say that the cover design brings them in, there's the rub .... the blanket back and sells them to copy, It is the meat. Why is it that "they say" that and how all the parts together? As I probably mentioned before, designing a book cover is like a puzzle and copy the books, and part of that puzzle. In part one of a design we will go back over the elements that make up the copy.
That Pieces Artful Back Cover Design:
1. Category and price. This is usually the first line on the back.
Price: There are several places on the back, where they can be positioned.
2. Headline: What is the main advantage is you want your readers to from your book.
3. First paragraph: is usually a descriptive summary, the collective security figures or statements.
4th Sub heading and list of points: the sub takes you to the features of the bullet.
5. The last paragraph: one or two sentences sum it up and call to action.
6. Author photo and bio, if there is room to add a photo and brief intro to the author or the company.
7. Testimonal: confirmation from a person know and what they think about your book.
8. Signature: Name of the Company and contact, website and location if you want. As a rule, on the lower left.
9. Barcode: positioning a rule, lower right, although there is no Standard placement.
So I have given you an idea what goes on in the back cover design of your book. In the second part we will go into more detail on each of them, and what role does it catch and hold your readers attention.
